Place-based Research Excursions

Join us for a series of excursions to local field sites, intended to enable conversation across sub-fields of Ecology and to inspire discussions of the role that place plays in ecology research.

Planned trips:
Mud Creek in the Duke forest, 11/19/2019, with NCSU’s Alonso Ramirez. (Stay tuned for transport and timing details!)

Dr. Ramirez is an aquatic macroinvertebrate taxonomist, studying urban and tropical streams in Puerto Rico and North Carolina. His work focuses on how climate change induced shifts in ecosystem function will impact macroinvertebrate communities.

We are planning 2 more trips for the spring 2020 semester!
